Eagle Men, Women Continue Indoor Season At PSU, YSU

Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Friday (Jan. 21) at both the Penn State National Invitational and the Youngstown State Collegiate Invitational.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• At Penn State, sophomore Doniven Jackson not only earned a new provisional time for the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships (March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.) in the 60-meter dash prelims in 6.87 seconds, he followed that up with a faster time in the finals of 6.81 seconds, good for a fourth-place finish.
• Senior Brent Fairbanks won the men's weight throw at 21.33 meters/69-feet-11¾, and senior Trevor Bassitt took the men's 60 hurdles in 7.79 seconds.
• At Youngstown, sophomore Brenden Jackson was the winner in the men's 400 dash in 49.52 seconds. Runner-up finishes came from freshman Brock Janowicz in the men's weight throw (17.27 meters/56-feet-8), sophomore McKenna Woodruff in the women's 800 run (2:19.09), and freshman Abby Krile in the women's pole vault unseeded (3.37 meters/11-feet-0¾).
• Finishing third were freshman Sarah Masuoka in the women's pole vault seeded (3.65 meters/11-feet-11¾) and freshman Dylan Phelps in the men's high jump unseeded (1.80 meters/5-feet-10¾).
