Eagle Women Move Up To Seventh To End ODU Tourney

The second and final day of Ohio Dominican's Champions of Women's Golf tournament on Sunday (Sept. 19) saw Ashland University's women's golf team move up one spot and finish in seventh place in the 10-team field.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Sunday's round saw Ashland improve by nine strokes over Saturday (Sept. 18), and the Eagles finished at 339-330—669. Tiffin won the team title at 304-304—608, followed by Davenport (307-326—633) and Saginaw Valley State (323-320—643).
  • Freshman Emma Conway tied for 11th place individually in her first collegiate tournament, carding 81-80—161. She birdied hole No. 5 on Sunday, and had third birds on the weekend.
  • Sophomore Maddy Klinger tied for 23rd and also was a stroke better at 84-83—147 (two birdies), while fellow sophomore Mailiis Simovart tied for 28th with a big second-round improvement to 88-80—168 (one birdie).
  • Rounding out the team portion of AU play were freshman Samantha Webb (tied for 44th, 88-87—175) and senior Sophia Lowe (58th, 86-101—187).
  • Playing as an individual as freshman Lindsay Mayo (tied for 34th, 83-88—171).
  • Davenport's Natalie Samdal was individual medalist at 71-73—144.
 
UP NEXT
Ashland's women's second tournament of the fall will be Oct. 4-5 at Findlay's Beall Fall Classic.
