The 2021 outdoor track and field season is in full swing – and junior
Taylor Kroll's best swing in the women's hammer throw on Friday (March 26) at the adidas Winthrop Invitational was good enough to win the event.
Kroll's top heave of 51.15 meters/167-feet-10 topped the predominantly-NCAA Division I field.
Earlier on Friday, a pair of Ashland athletes earned provisional entry into 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, May 27-29 at Grand Valley State. Senior
Ellie Jindra was second in the women's high jump at 1.73 meters/5-feet-8, and senior
Travis Moore was runner-up in the men's 110-meter hurdles at 14.49 seconds.
Freshman
Emma Liberatore was third in the women's long jump at 5.28 meters/17-feet-4, sophomore
Nick Ponzi was third in the men's 800 run (1:56.15), and sophomore
Keaton Jordan took third in the men's pole vault (4.35 meters/14-feet-3¼).
In Thursday's men's 110 hurdles prelims at the Raleigh Relays, senior
Trevor Bassitt automatically qualified for outdoor nationals by winning in 13.79 seconds, and senior
Javon Graham provisionally qualified with a time of 14.45 seconds.
On Saturday (May 27), the Eagle men and women will compete in both the third and final day at Raleigh, and the second and final day at Winthrop.
