It was a strong start to the new indoor track and field season for Ashland University's men and women on Friday (Dec. 3) at Findlay's Oiler Opener.

The Eagles on Friday collected three provisional marks for the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships, March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan., and had seven top-three placements overall.

WHAT HAPPENED
- One of the newest Eagles, senior Nate Stout, came out of the gate with a win and a provisional mark in the men's shot put at 17.55 meters/57-feet-7, and finished second in the men's weight throw in 17.62 meters/57-feet-9Âľ.
- Sophomore Noah Koch also earned a provo on Friday, winning the men's weight throw with a top heave of 18.19 meters/59-feet-8¼. Koch also took third in the men's shot put at 15.71 meters/51-feet-6½.
- On the women's side, senior Carrol Pauley earned her provo with a victory in the weight throw at 19.18 meters/62-feet-11ÂĽ.
- Freshman Kelsey Kinsley had a pair of third-place finishes – in the women's shot put (13.61 meters/44-feet-8) and women's weight throw (16.81 meters/55-feet-2).
