Ashland Women Tee Off At Findlay’s Beall Classic

Ashland University's women's golf team opened play in its second tournament of the fall, Findlay's William Beall Fall Classic, with 36 holes on Monday (Oct. 4).
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Freshman Emma Conway led the Eagles on Day 1, ending in a tie for 58th place at 80-81—161. She had three birdies on Monday.
  • Senior Sophia Lowe is 69th at 84-82—166 and with one birdie, while sophomore Mailiis Simovart is tied for 72nd at 83-85—168 and with a birdie.
  • Freshman Lindsay Mayo is tied for 81st (90-82—172), but had five birdies on Monday, and freshman Alyson Veverka is 83rd at 93-81—174 and with a birdie.
  • As a team, Ashland ended the first day in 16th place out of 18 teams at 337-326—663. Barry is first through 36 holes (299-288—587), followed by the host Oilers (293-301—594) and Grand Valley State (300-298—598).
  • Gabby Woods of Findlay is the Day 1 individual leader at 2-under-par 71-71—142.
 
UP NEXT
Ashland will play the third and final round in Findlay on Tuesday (Oct. 5).
