Ashland University's women's golf team opened play in its second tournament of the fall, Findlay's William Beall Fall Classic, with 36 holes on Monday (Oct. 4).
WHAT HAPPENED
- Freshman Emma Conway led the Eagles on Day 1, ending in a tie for 58th place at 80-81—161. She had three birdies on Monday.
- Senior Sophia Lowe is 69th at 84-82—166 and with one birdie, while sophomore Mailiis Simovart is tied for 72nd at 83-85—168 and with a birdie.
- Freshman Lindsay Mayo is tied for 81st (90-82—172), but had five birdies on Monday, and freshman Alyson Veverka is 83rd at 93-81—174 and with a birdie.
- As a team, Ashland ended the first day in 16th place out of 18 teams at 337-326—663. Barry is first through 36 holes (299-288—587), followed by the host Oilers (293-301—594) and Grand Valley State (300-298—598).
- Gabby Woods of Findlay is the Day 1 individual leader at 2-under-par 71-71—142.
UP NEXT
Ashland will play the third and final round in Findlay on Tuesday (Oct. 5).
