After a fall-low team score of 317 on Day 1 of the Music City Invitational, Ashland University's women's golf team turned around and shot the same score to finish the tournament on Tuesday (Oct. 19).
The Eagles' 317-317—634 put them in 11
th place in the 16-team field. Christian Brothers was the team medalist at 300-305—605, followed by Montevallo (305-305—610) and Northwood (301-309—610).
WHAT HAPPENED
- Freshman Samantha Webb became just the 10th Eagle women's golfer all-time to record an eagle when she carded a 3 on the par-5 hole No. 2. She finished the tournament in a tie for 20th place at 78-77—155, and also had two birdies on Tuesday.
- Another freshman, Grace Grant, tied for 37th (79-80—159), while senior Sophia Lowe (81-79—160) and freshman Emma Conway (79-81—160) each tied for 46th. Lowe birdied No. 2 on Tuesday, and Conway birdied No. 9.
- Sophomore Mailiis Simovart tied for 67th (84-82—166), and birdied No. 9 on Tuesday.
- Eagles playing as individuals were freshman Lindsay Mayo (tied for 73rd, 85-84—169, birdie on No. 5 on Tuesday) and sophomore Paige Lawson (tied for 78th, 85-88—173, birdie on No. 2 on Tuesday).
- Individual medalist honors went to Franklin Pierce's Kesinee Prukmathakul (6-under-par 66-72—138).
UP NEXT
Ashland will conclude its fall non-championship schedule with the Kentucky Wesleyan Fall Invitational on Oct. 30-31.
