AU Women Start Play In Florida At Barton Invitational

On Monday (March 9), Ashland University's women's golf team played in the first round of the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Junior Sophie Hemleben paced the Eagle effort to begin the spring championship season, firing an 85 and finishing the day in a tie for 40th place individually. Senior Logan Pottorf was next up with a round of 92 (tied for 62nd).

Senior Claire Coughenour (99, tied for 77th), senior Megan Pollock (100, 80th) and sophomore Sophia Lowe (103, tied for 82nd) rounded out AU's day.

Ashland's team score on Monday was 376. Fairleigh Dickinson's 301 leads the 14-team field, followed by Bethune-Cookman (316) and St. Francis, Pa. (318).

The Eagle women will play the second and final round of the Barton Invitational on Tuesday (March 10).
