Eagles Stifled In Colorado Trip Opener

Box Score

Ashland University's lacrosse team opened its Colorado road trip with a loss on Tuesday (March 10) at Colorado St.-Pueblo.

The Eagles (2-3) were beaten, 22-5, by the Thunderwolves after a slow start in the first half, as they trailed 15-4 at the break.

Senior Sofia Michael led AU with three goals, all in the first half. The Eagles only notched one goal in the second half due to a stifling Thunderwolves defense. Senior Renee Ruppert and senior Ashley Merritt also notched one goal apiece.

Colorado St.-Pueblo led in most team categories, including shots (35-29), shots on goal (30-21), and draw controls (15-13).

Ane Marie Horton was the netminder for the Thunderwolves. Horton made 11 saves, only allowing four goals to pass. Junior Melan White made four saves for AU, while freshman Jillian Rekulak also made four saves as she came in to relieve White.

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday (March 12), as they take on UC-Colorado Springs at 5 p.m.
