Eagle Women Place Seventh In 2019 Spring Opener

Closing out the first tournament of the 2019 spring championship season, Ashland University's women's golf team finished in seventh place at the 23-team Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational in Georgetown, Ky., on Sunday (March 17).

The Eagles ended the weekend at 322-322—644. Findlay handily won the team title at 304-304—608, followed by Tiffin (308-317—625), Northwood (305-324—629) and Wayne State (314-319—633).

Sophomore Sophie Hemleben finished with Ashland's low score on the weekend, placing in a tie for 14^th place individually at 75-80—155. A second-round 74 allowed sophomore Hannah Lemons to move up to a tie for 16^th at 82-74—156.

The Eagles' team play was rounded out by senior Monica Torda (tied for 39^th, 79-84—163), junior Logan Pottorf (tied for 70^th, 86-84—170) and freshman Sophia Lowe (tied for 103rd, 93-86—179).

Seeing time in the tourney as an individual was freshman Cece Dillon (tied for 70^th, 87-83—170).

Ashland's women will be back in action on April 8-9 at the NC4K Classic in Blacklick, Ohio.
