AU Women Finish Eighth At Cumberland Classic

On Sunday (Sept. 23), Ashland University's women's golf team finished play at the two-day Cumberland Trail Golf Classic in Pataskala, Ohio.

The Eagle women placed eighth in the 15-team field, ending at 324-327—651. Wayne State is the team winner (309-295—604), finishing 20 shots ahead of second-place Saginaw Valley State (310-314—624).

Sophomore Sophie Hemleben had Ashland's low score on the weekend, placing in a tie for 11th at 71-81—152. Fellow sophomore Hannah Lemons tied for 22nd at 81-78—159. Senior Monica Torda was tied for 51st (88-83—171), as was junior Logan Pottorf (90-81—171), who played as an individual.

Freshmen Sophie Lowe (56th, 87-85—172) and Cece Dillon (tied for 57th, 85-88—173) rounded out Ashland's team play, while junior Claire Coughenour (83rd, 105-96—201) played as an individual.

Ashland's next tournament will be Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 29-30) at Grand Valley State's Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invitational.
