Eagles Open Spring Season With 6-3 Win

Ashland University women's tennis won five matches in the fall, more than it had in the previous two fall seasons combined.

The program continued to show signs of improvement on Monday (March 5), as it won its first spring opener since 2015 in a 6-3 effort against Division III Bridgewater College in Hilton Head, S.C.

Freshmen Camille Ringot (No. 1), Anna Hart (No. 2) and Hazuki Ogino (No. 3), and senior Elizabeth Kidd (No. 5) all won their singles matches in two sets. Junior Natalie Keron's match went to a third set that she ultimately won, 10-8.

The pair of Ogino and junior Chelsea Myers was responsible for Ashland's win during the doubles portion of the match in the No. 3 spot, defeating their opponents, 8-1.

"Today was a whole team effort," second-year head coach Lexi Bolesky said. "We're excited to have started our trip here on Hilton Head with a win, and we look forward to continue striving to improve and be our best."

AU picks back up in Hilton Head on Tuesday (March 6), when the Eagles face Davis & Elkins.
