In a non-conference road game on Wednesday (March 29) afternoon, Ashland University's baseball team defeated Cedarville, 10-2, to improve to 10-14 this season.

In scoring double-digit runs against the Yellow Jackets (6-13), the Eagles have scored at least 10 runs in consecutive games for the first time in 2017.

Ashland used a six-run top of the first inning to get started. The Eagles had just one hit in the first, but it was a two-run single by junior shortstop Edmond Pilolli.

In the fourth, Ashland came up with another crooked number, scoring twice. Those runs came across on a Cedarville error and senior center fielder Carsten Dembeck scoring on an attempted double steal.

Pilolli was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Dembeck and freshman designated hitter Carson Mittermaier each scored twice.

Sophomore right-hander Sam Rice (2-2) earned the win with four innings of a shutout start. He struck out five and allowed just one hit and one walk.

UP NEXT: A home four-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference set vs. Walsh on Saturday and Sunday (April 1-2).
