The No. 1-ranked Ashland University men's indoor track and field team and the No. 14-ranked Eagle women combined for four improved provisional marks for 2017 NCAA Division II indoor nationals on Friday (Feb. 3) and Saturday (Feb. 4) at the Akron Invitational.
Three of those improved provisional marks came in the men's weight throw, where senior Jordan Crayon took third (20.86 meters/68-feet-5.25), senior Bryn Campbell was fourth (20.29 meters/66-feet-6.75) and freshman Nick Zak placed sixth (19.46 meters/63-feet-10).
In the women's pentathlon, junior Marie Hammer upped her provisional total by finishing seventh with 3,515 points.
In the men's 400 dash, sophomore Myles Pringle set a new fieldhouse record by winning in 46.46 seconds. He set the new fieldhouse standard by 0.54 seconds.
Also earning first-place finishes were senior Nick Hall in the men's 3,000 run (8:27.51), junior Hunter Heaton in the men's mile (4:14.89), senior Nuri Lee in the women's 400 dash (58.25), sophomore Brandon Wilson in the men's 200 dash (22.01), junior Stephen Pop in the men's weight throw (17.39 meters/57-feet-0.5) and junior Hannah Bartlome in the women's high jump (1.65 meters/5-feet-4.75).
Placing second were the men's 4x4 team (3:17.59), senior Columbus Millet in the men's 400 dash (50.02) and senior Jason Zahn in the men's discus (55.33 meters/181-feet-6.25). Junior Zachary Smelcer was third in the men's shot put (15.58 meters/51-feet-1.25).
UP NEXT: A split-squad weekend on Friday (Feb. 10) at the Grand Valley State Big Meet and Saturday (Feb. 11) at the Tiffin Open.
