Eagles Drop 6-3 Decision To Cornerstone

Box Score

The AU baseball team lost its second straight game on Wednesday (Mar. 5), falling to Cornerstone, 6-3. The game was played in Florida.

AU (5-3) spent all day playing from behind. The Michigan school got to starter and loser Cole Hudson for three runs in the first inning. Hudson departed after that frame and AU got quality work out of the bullpen from freshman Mitch Cox. He went 6.1 innings and allowed two runs. His ability to quiet Cornerstone gave the Eagles a chance to get back in the game.

The Eagles had 11 hits. Shortstop Austin Walts, who has been hot throughout the spring trip, went 3-for-5 with a double. Second baseman Stephen James was 2-for-4 and catcher Kyle Brooks was 3-for-4.

On Thursday (Mar. 6), the Eagles will play Lewis. This will be the second game between these two regional foes in Florida. The Flyers came from behind to win the first encounter, 8-7.
