ASHLAND, Ohio – The AU men's soccer team's long and challenging road trip continued Friday (Sept. 30) night at Northwood and the Eagles could not come up with a result, losing 3-0.
Northwood's D.J. Evans opened the scoring in the 15th minute and AU never recovered.
The Eagles (2-6-2, 1-3-1 GLIAC) continued to fire shots on opposing goalkeepers, but this time Matt Renouf was a wall on the back line. He saved all eight Ashland shots. The Eagles were out-shot, 16-8, in the game, but all eight were on goal.
Northwood (6-1, 4-1 GLIAC) scored twice in the second half on goals by Liam MacHugh and Keith Lough in the 48th and 81st minutes, respectively.
Junior midfielder Andrew Over (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) had three of AU's shots and senior wing Kenny Hewitt (London, England/Longhill) had two. Junior goalkeeper Justin Nolan (Medina, Ohio/Highland) stopped six shots for the Eagles.
Ashland has not won in its last six games and has scored just one goal in that stretch.
The Eagles will travel to Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 2) for a GLIAC game against the Cardinals. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
