Ashland University senior forward
Maceo Williams continues to wade into uncharted territory.
As announced by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Friday (March 6) afternoon, Williams has been chosen as the league's men's basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. He is the first Eagle men's basketball player to ever be chosen as a conference Player of the Year twice.
Williams also becomes just the second player to repeat as Great Midwest men's basketball Player of the Year, along with Hillsdale's Patrick Cartier (2020-21 and 2021-22).
So far in 2025-26, Williams is averaging 18.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game, while hitting on 60.2 percent from the field and 30.9 percent from 3-point range. He has 12 double-doubles this winter, and double-doubles in seven of the last nine contests.
Williams also is a first-team all-league choice, and junior wing
Cooper Davis is a second-team selection. Davis is averaging 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, and making 82.6 percent of his free throws.
Ashland men's basketball is 20-9, and will face Lake Erie (22-7) in a 2026 Great Midwest Tournament semifinal on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Walsh.
