One of the top players in the century-plus-long history of Ashland College/University men's basketball, forward
Maceo Williams, is taking his talents overseas.

Williams has signed with the UNGER STEEL Gunners, a team in the Austrian win2day SUPERLIGA league. He will be the only true rookie in 2026-27 for the Gunners, who play in the top professional men's basketball league in Austria.

The second all-time leading scorer in Eagle men's basketball history with 1,944 career points, and the program's third-best rebounder with 885 career boards, Williams was a two-time first-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) all-district selection, two-time first-team Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) all-region choice and two-time Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

His field-goal percentage of 69.1 in 2022-23 is a program record, and he posted two of the top seven single-season point totals in Ashland men's basketball annals – 584 in 2025-26 (sixth), and 577 in 2024-25 (seventh).
With the Gunners, Williams will be reunited with another former Eagle forward,
Victor Searls.

Eagle men's basketball went 20-11 overall and 13-7 in the Great Midwest in 2025-26, and qualified for a conference tournament for the 12
th straight season. Ashland has won 230 games over the last 12 seasons, a span which also includes two conference tournament titles and five NCAA Division II postseason appearances.
