The Ashland University Athletics Department was once again recognized by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for standout performances over the past week.
On Monday, March 23, three Eagles earned Athlete of the Week honors, representing the baseball, track and field, and women's lacrosse teams.
On the diamond, Drew Becker earned North Division Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a complete-game effort in an 8-inning, 3-1 win at Walsh. He allowed just one run on five hits while striking out 10 and walking none, improving his record on the mound to 2-0 on the season. The Eagles are entering the middle point of the 2026 season with a 14-8 overall and 5-3 G-MAC record.
The Eagles will next play on Tuesday, March 24, at 3:00 p.m. EST from Tomassi Stadium and Donges Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex
Moving to the sand and gravel pits and an open field of grass, Molley Winner started off the outdoor track and field season with a dominant performance at the Lee University Invitational. She was able to win both the shot put, with a throw of 15.16 meters, and the hammer throw, with a toss of 56.63 meters.
Ashland next hits the road for the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday, March 28.
Lastly, out on the field, Tori Wanat's impressive play helped lead the women's lacrosse team to a four-game winning streak. Over the course of this past week, she totaled an impressive seven goals, 13 assists and 24 draw controls. She also tacked on seven caused turnovers, making her impact felt on both sides of the ball.
The Eagles will return home for their next game on Thursday, March 26, against the Thomas More Saints at 5:00 p.m. EST.
