Maceo Williams keeps moving closer to earning one of the top small-college awards in men's basketball.
On Sunday (March 1) morning, the Ashland University senior forward was announced as part of the Trevor Hudgins Award Top 15 Watch List, sponsored by Northwest Missouri State University. The award is presented annually to a senior playing in either NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA Division I & II, and NCCAA Division I & II. It goes to the player who has had the finest overall four-year career within Small College Basketball.
Through the regular season, Williams has posted averages of 18.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 2025-26, shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from 3-point range.
In his Eagle career, Williams is the only player in program history who is in the top three in both career points (1,878) and career rebounds (862).
Ashland men's basketball finished the regular season at 19-9 overall and 13-7 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Eagles will play a conference tournament quarterfinal at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium on Tuesday (March 3) at 6 p.m. vs. Northwood (16-12, 10-10).
The 2026 season marks the third time that the Trevor Hudgins Award will be awarded. In 2024, KJ Jones of Emannuel College was named the inaugural winner. Kaleb Lowery of The Master's received the award in 2025.
A video of the finalists will be released on April 4, and the award winner will be announced through a video presentation on April 6, at halftime of the NCAA Division I national championship game.
