Colt Sponseller and freshman 141-pounder
Brock Durbin lead the list of Eagles honored by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Thursday (March 27) afternoon, as the circuit's 2024-25 wrestling season awards were released.

Sponseller is the Great Midwest Coach of the Year for the third time, while Durbin is the Eagles' first Great Midwest Freshman of the Year.

Ashland wrestling has won four of five Great Midwest tournament titles since joining the league, and Sponseller has guided the Eagles in all four of those championships. At the 2025 Championship, Ashland earned 159.5 points, 35.5 ahead of second-place Tiffin.

Durbin was the conference runner-up at 141 pounds, qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in his first season on the collegiate mats, and ended with a record of 23-17.

Honored by the conference for winning their respective weight classes at the conference championships were sophomore 149-pounder
Hayden Kuhn, junior 174-pounder
Sevriano Garza, and sophomore 184-pounder
Peyton Lemon.

Second-team all-conference Eagles, for their runner-up conference placements, are sophomore 125-pounder
Luke Acuna, Durbin, senior 197-pounder
Kaine Morris and junior 285-pounder
