Ashland University's women's lacrosse team improved to 4-4 prior to the start of 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Tuesday (March 18) afternoon, following a 15-8 win over Gannon at Ferguson Field.
The Golden Knights are 2-4.
"I would say now, we're getting toward a more balanced team," said Ashland head coach
Lauren Simko. "The defense is doing their job, and the attack is doing their job, and everybody's doing their role, and it's fun to watch it."
In just her eighth game in an Eagle uniform, junior goalkeeper
Annie Duncan made a season-high-tying 10 saves on Tuesday, while yielding a season-low in goals in a game.
"I feel like we've started to talk a lot more on both sides of the ball, which has really helped," Duncan said. "If we just keep talking, we'll be even better of a team as the season progresses.
"We all know how each other plays now, so we're playing a lot better together."
MORE AND MORE GOAL SCORERS…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
- Seven Eagles scored at least once on Tuesday, as junior attacker Ashley Fisher led the way with five goals, to go with an assist for six points.
- "We've started to build some of that confidence," Simko said. "We've started to integrate a lot of new faces into that attack unit."
- Ashland out-shot Gannon, 33-21, while forcing 25 Golden Knights turnovers.
