AU Swim, Dive Teams Win Fourth Straight Dual At Home

On Saturday (Nov. 8) afternoon at the Messerly Natatorium, Ashland University's swimming and diving teams topped Washington and Jefferson for a fourth straight home win for both the Eagle men and women.
 
AU's women won 240-38, and AU's men were victorious by a 227-59 count.
 
Eagles winning twice individually on Saturday were senior Nick Girz (men's 50-yard freestyle, 21.93 seconds; men's 100 free, 48.79 seconds), sophomore Yasmim Tomita (women's 100 backstroke, 59.64 seconds; women's 200 back, 2:11.53), junior Grant Brown (men's 200 free, 1:49.66; men's 500 free, 5:00.42), junior Hannah Yemec (women's 200 butterfly, 2:16.10; women's 100 fly, 1:00.09), junior Riley Hunt (women's 1-meter diving, 242.33 points; women's 3-meter diving, 250.20 points), junior Payton O'Toole (women's 50 free, 25.15 seconds; women's 200 individual medley, 2:16.98), and junior Evan Kemp (men's 200 fly, 2:00.43; men's 200 IM, 1:59.94).
 
Single individual victories were earned by sophomore Stephanie Holubetz in the women's 1,000 free (12:06.79), freshman Jason Lenczyk in the men's 1,000 free (11:09.61), freshman Kit Kat Anderson in the women's 200 free (2:03.82), sophomore William Collins in the men's 100 back (55.47 seconds), sophomore Brooke Patel in the women's 100 breaststroke (1:13.07), senior Andrew Oates in the men's 100 breaststroke (1:01.05), senior Joey Lenczyk in men's 3-meter diving (261.23 points), senior Colleen Cox in the women's 100 free (55.77 seconds), junior Colin Pham in the men's 200 back (2:05.43), freshman Cooper Young in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:17.99), sophomore Jaidyn Jordan in the women's 500 free (5:45.04), and senior Cole Huebner in the men's 100 fly (53.79 seconds).
 
Ashland also won all four relays on Saturday:
  • Women's 200 medley relay – Tomita, Patel, junior Juliana Pignato, and Cox (1:53.94)
  • Men's 200 medley relay – Pham, Oates, Kemp and senior Nick Olquin (1:36.89)
  • Women's 200 free relay – freshman Katelyn Claugus, Anderson, O'Toole and Cox (1:42.46)
  • Men's 200 free relay – Huebner, senior Robin Falk, senior Jack Elliott and Girz (1:26.87)
SECOND PLACE
  • Senior Mary Kate Prall in the women's 100 back (1:03.45) and women's 200 back (2:17.79).
  • Junior Emma Stoll in the women's 1,000 free (12:31.73) and women's 500 free (6:00.96).
  • Freshman Lincoln Shirley in the men's 200 free (1:49.71) and men's 500 free (5:02.33).
  • Senior Maddi Whitticar in women's 1-meter diving (198.60 points) and women's 3-meter diving (194.85 points).
  • Jordan in the women's 200 free (2:11.57).
  • Pignato in the women's 200 fly (2:18.80).
  • Olquin in the men's 200 fly (2:02.33).
  • Cox in the women's 50 free (25.30 seconds).
  • Huebner in the men's 50 free (22.15 seconds).
  • Claugus in the women's 100 free (58.46 seconds).
  • Oates in the men's 100 free (49.18 seconds).
