The Ashland University men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2025-26 home schedule on Saturday (Oct. 25) afternoon vs. Grove City College at the Messerly Natatorium, with both giving first-year head coach
Sydney Laughlin her first dual victories.
Ashland's women won 169-131, and the AU men took a 154-137 decision.
Junior
Payton O'Toole earned two individual victories, in the women's 200-yard freestyle (2:00.08) and 100 free (55.24 seconds). She also was part of two winning relays, as well – the women's 200 medley relay with sophomore
Yasmim Tomita, senior
Colleen Cox and junior
Hannah Yemec (1:51.26), and the women's 200 free relay with Cox, freshman
Katelyn Claugus and Yemec (1:40.72).
Tomita also won a pair of events, the women's 100 backstroke (58.45 seconds) and 200 back (2:09.25).
In diving, both junior
Riley Hunt (women's 1-meter, 398.10 points, and 3-meter, 240.83 points) and senior
Joey Lenczyk (men's 1-meter, 390.23 points, and 3-meter, 252.83 points) won twice.
Single wins were earned by Yemec in the women's 100 butterfly (1:00.34), senior
Robin Falk in the men's 200 free (1:49.42), senior
Nick Girz in the men's 100 breaststroke (58.80), junior
Evan Kemp in the men's 200 fly (2:00.58), junior
Colin Pham in the men's 200 back (1:59.89), and sophomore
Brooke Patel in the women's 400 individual medley (4:49.90).
Also taking first was the men's 200 free relay of Falk, freshman
