The Ashland University men's basketball team, in just its second week of official practice, went down to Dayton, Ohio, for an exhibition game vs. NCAA Division I Northern Kentucky on Monday (Oct. 20) – the result of which was an 83-72 loss.
While the Eagles shot 49.1 percent from the field, they also kept the Norse to 43.9 from the floor. Ashland played 13 players on Monday night.

Jason Moore pulled the Eagles to within a point at 17-16 with 12½ minutes left before halftime, then, with 11:32 to go until the break, senior forward
Maceo Williams' old-fashioned 3-point play gave Ashland a 21-19 lead.
Two more Williams free throws extended the advantage to 23-19, and once the Eagles had their biggest lead at 33-25 inside of the seven-minute mark, their run ended at 17-6.
Northern Kentucky, however, went on an 11-0 run out of the last media timeout of the first half, and took a 36-33 lead. When the two teams went into the locker room, the Norse took a 44-38 lead with them.
At the 14:44 mark of the second half, Northern Kentucky took its first double-digit lead at 57-46. The largest Norse lead was 15 points, and the Eagles were as close as seven.
WRAPPING IT UP
- Three Eagles finished in double-digit scoring – junior wing Cooper Davis (16 points), Williams (15 points to go with nine rebounds and three steals), and Edwards (11 points).
- Ashland dished off 16 assists, led by Edwards with five.
- Of the Eagles' 11 steals, freshman guard Jason Henlon collected four in 22 minutes off the bench.
- AU scored 23 points off 17 Norse turnovers.
- NKU had a 39-23 rebound advantage.
