Eagle Swimmers Open 2025-26 At Oberlin Early Invite Day 1

The 2025-26 Ashland University swimming season opened on Friday (Oct. 10) on Day 1 of the Oberlin Early Invite.
 
Senior Nick Girz (men's 50-yard freestyle, 21.44 seconds) and junior Evan Kemp (men's 200 individual medley, 1:55.20) earned runner-up finishes in their respective individual events, then they teamed up with junior Colin Pham and senior Jack Elliott to place second in the men's 400 medley relay in 3:27.02.
 
The men's 200 free relay quartet of Girz and fellow seniors Robin Falk, Cole Huebner and Andrew Oates took third in 1:26.35.
 
FOURTH PLACE – Junior Juliana Pignato in the women's 200 IM (2:16.6), the women's 200 free relay of sophomore Raechel Serafimov, senior Colleen Cox, junior Blair Pichola and freshman Katelyn Claugus (1:42.09), and the women's 400 medley relay of senior Mary Kate Prall, Pichola, Pignato and freshman Kit Kat Anderson (4:12.74).
 
FIFTH PLACE – Senior Jason Basile in the men's 500 free (4:51.43), Cox in the women's 50 free (25.01 seconds), and sophomore Yasmim Tomita in the women's 200 IM (2:16.85).
 
Ashland's men are second of four teams with 251 team points (Case Western Reserve is first with 513) after the first day, while the Eagle women are third of five teams with 211 team points (Case Western Reserve first with 399, Hillsdale second with 235).
