As announced on Tuesday (Jan. 7) afternoon, eight Ashland University football players have earned spots on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division II Academic All-District team.
- Junior quarterback Cameron Blair had a 3.60 cumulative grade-point average as an Intervention Specialist major through the spring 2024 semester. In 2024, he punted 27 times for a 38.1-yard average, with nearly half (12) being placed inside the 20-yard line.
- Junior center Ethan Enders had a 3.64 cumulative GPA as an Accounting major through spring 2024. He earned first-team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honors as the anchor of the Eagle offensive line.
- Sophomore linebacker Ben Holzopfel had a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an Exercise Science major through spring 2024. A second-team all-conference selection, he led the team with 71 total tackles (43 solo), and added a tackle for loss, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a team-high three forced fumbles.
- Junior wide receiver Dru Johnson had a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a Sport Management major through spring 2024. A member of the 2024 AFCA Good Works Team, he caught 23 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown.
- Senior wide receiver Tony Pannunzio had a 3.91 cumulative GPA as a Biology major through spring 2024. He finished this past season with one of the top receiving campaigns in program history – 59 catches for 933 yards and five touchdowns – and was second-team All-Great Midwest.
- Junior kicker A.J. Rhodes had a 3.80 cumulative GPA as a Finance major through spring 2024. Also second-team all-league, he was 15-for-19 on field goals and 35-for-41 on extra points, and had 25 touchbacks on kickoffs, this fall.
- Senior defensive tackle Collin Strong had a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a Religion major through spring 2024. He recorded 25 total tackles (13 solo), three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick this fall.
- Junior safety Bobby Young had a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a Supply Chain Management major through spring 2024. This fall, he picked up 32 total tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
On Jan. 28, the 2024 CSC NCAA Division II Academic All-America Team will be released.

This past season, the Eagles finished 9-4 overall and 8-1 in the Great Midwest, winning the conference championship outright and winning a road NCAA Division II postseason game for the first time in program history. Ashland was 23
rd in the final 2024 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches Poll.
