Seven Eagle Football Players Land CSC Academic All-District Recognition

As revealed by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday (Jan. 6) afternoon, seven Ashland University football players earned distinction as 2025 CSC Academic All-District selections in NCAA Division II:
  • Senior quarterback Cameron Blair is an Education (Intervention Specialist) major with a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average through the 2025 fall semester. He threw for 2,109 yards and 12 touchdowns, and ran for 496 yards and six more TDs, this past season.
  • Sophomore wide receiver Luke Brenner is a Finance major with a 3.75 cumulative GPA. In 2025, he caught 16 passes for 175 yards.
  • Senior center Ethan Enders, a three-time CSC Academic All-District pick, has graduate GPAs of 4.00 and 3.80. He earned first-team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honors, and was a 2025 National Football Foundation (NFF) William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist.
  • Junior linebacker Ben Holzopfel sports a 3.85 cumulative GPA as an Exercise Science major. A second-team all-conference selection, he finished 2025 with 48 total tackles, 2½ tackles for loss and one sack.
  • Sophomore tight end Jonathan Merimee is a Finance major with a cumulative GPA of 3.66. He grabbed 27 passes for 330 yards and three scores this past season.
  • Sophomore right tackle Nico Traczyk has a 3.68 cumulative GPA as a Business Management major. He is the 2025 Great Midwest Offensive Lineman of the Year and an first-team all-league selection, as well as Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region 3 first team.
  • Sophomore linebacker Sam Wakula is a Finance major sporting a 3.75 cumulative GPA. This fall, he finished with 43 total tackles, 4½ tackles for loss and 1½ sacks.
The Eagles finished the 2025 season at 10-3 overall and 8-1 in the Great Midwest – winning an NCAA Division II playoff game for the second season in a row for the first time, and earning a co-conference championship.  Ashland was 15th in the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) D-II poll.
