The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its 2024 softball season awards on Wednesday (May 1) afternoon, and three Ashland University players landed spots on the all-league second team.
- Freshman left fielder Delaney Maynard burst on to the collegiate scene this spring by sporting team-highs in batting average (.344), doubles (16), home runs (three), RBIs (28), slugging percentage (.555), and on-base percentage (.397). She also added 30 runs scored, 44 hits, a triple and eight stolen bases. Maynard tied the school record with five hits in a game at Tiffin on April 7.
- Sophomore second baseman Danielle Robbins, a 2023 conference first-teamer, led AU with 34 runs scored, 51 hits and 26 stolen bases this spring. She also collected a .331 batting average, two doubles, a triple, 13 walks and a .387 on-base percentage. Her 26 steals are second-most in a season in program history.
- Junior designated player/pitcher Cassidy Shaffer is an All-Great Midwest second-teamer for the second straight season. In 2024, she hit .353 with four doubles, a home run, 16 RBIs and a .456 slugging percentage at the plate, and was 3-7 with a save and a 3.28 earned-run average in the pitcher's circle.Â
Ashland softball ended 2024 with a 19-26 overall record and a mark of 12-14 in the Great Midwest.
