In 2023, Ashland University's STUNT team made history by becoming the first conference STUNT champion in history.
Â
In 2024, the Eagles have made history by doing it again.
Â
On Saturday (March 30) afternoon in Tiffin, No. 7-ranked Ashland (15-7) defended its Great Midwest Athletic Conference title by topping No. 6 Trevecca Nazarene (15-6), 13-9, in the postseason tournament championship game.
"I think this one had a lot more meaning for us. They were so passionate," said Ashland head coach
Denise Farnsworth. "Our girls just played for each other, and I think that love showed today. In the end, that's probably just set us apart, that our kids love each other so much."
Â
Saturday's game also was the rubber match between the Eagles and Trojans, as each team won once during the regular season.
"I'm happy for Trevecca. They put out a heck of a fight," Farnsworth said. "In the end, we won and we got the job done. I don't think I could be more proud."
