Girz, Hunt Earn Wins To End Wooster Invite

The third and final day of the Wooster Invitational was Saturday (Dec. 7), and Ashland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams each finished in second place overall.
 
On the women's side, the Eagles (1,451 points) were second in the nine-team field, trailing only the host Fighting Scots (1,769.5 points). On the men's side, AU had 1,567 points, second only to Rose-Hulman (1,802.5 points) in the eight-team field.
 
Individually on Saturday, junior Nick Girz won the men's 100-yard freestyle in 46.86 seconds, and sophomore Riley Hunt took women's 3-meter diving with 420.25 points.
 
SECOND PLACE
- Senior Robin Falk in the men's 100 free (47.10 seconds).
- Freshman Raechel Serafimov in the women's 100 individual medley (1:04.62).
- Junior Jack Elliott in the men's 100 IM (53.69 seconds).
- Women's 400 free relay team of sophomores Blair Pichola and Juliana Pignato, senior Colleen Cox and sophomore Payton O'Toole (3:38.86).
- Men's 400 free relay team of juniors Andrew Oates and Cole Huebner, Falk and Girz (3:06.72).
- Junior Maddi Whittcar in women's 3-meter diving (363.75 points).
- Junior Joey Lenczyk in men's 1-meter diving (411.75 points).
 
THIRD PLACE
- Sophomore Colin Pham in the men's 200 backstroke (1:55.52).
- O'Toole in the women's 100 free (53.12 seconds).
 
FOURTH PLACE
- Oates in the men's 100 IM (54.51 seconds).
- Junior Mary Kate Prall in the women's 200 back (2:12.25).
- Freshman Brooke Patel in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:31.10).
 
FIFTH PLACE
- Pignato in the women's 200 butterfly (2:15.82).
- Fifth-year Josh Hagan in the men's 200 fly (1:56.13).
- Freshman Ella Howard in women's 3-meter diving (309.75 points).
 
SIXTH PLACE
- Sophomore Grant Brown in the men's 1,650 free (17:01.76).
- Sophomore Evan Kemp in the men's 200 fly (1:56.88).
 
SEVENTH PLACE
- Junior Jason Basile in the men's 1,650 free (17:03.74).
- Elliott in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:10.67).
- Junior Nick Olquin in the men's 200 fly (1:57.95).
 
EIGHTH PLACE
- Freshman Bikash Kumal in the men's 100 IM (59.87 seconds).
- Huebner in the men's 100 free (48.76 seconds).
- Sophomore Rachel Stanchek in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:40.37).
- Sophomore Payton Meyer in the women's 200 fly (2:21.59).
- Freshman Tanner Collins in men's 1-meter diving (291.65 points).
