No. 20 Ashland Grapplers Open National Duals At 0-2

The 2024 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals began on Friday (Jan. 5) in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the No. 20-ranked Ashland University wrestling team went 0-2 on the opening day of action.
 
In a 36-13 loss to No. 10-ranked McKendree, the Eagles received victories from sophomore 149-pounder Zander Graham (pin in 3:40), sophomore 165-pounder Sevriano Garza (14-2 major decision) and sophomore 174-pounder Nate Barrett (5-3 decision).
 
A 38-4 defeat to No. 12-ranked Upper Iowa saw Barrett take a 19-7 major decision, to improve to 12-4 on the season.
 
Ashland is 1-5 in duals so far in 2023-24.

The second and final day of the National Duals on Saturday (Jan. 6) at 10 a.m. Eastern/9 a.m. Central against No. 8-ranked Indianapolis.
