Ashland set the tone by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Sophomore first baseman
Sam Witt's sacrifice fly was followed two at-bats later by sophomore catcher
Ben Peltz' three-run home run.

After Gannon scored a run in the bottom of the second inning, the Eagles got their fifth and final run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from sophomore shortstop
Jeremiah Cangelosi.

The Golden Knights scored a run in the bottom of the ninth, but they didn't get much thanks to the pitching of sophomore left-hander
Brendan Beaver (1-0), who allowed four hits, one unearned run and no walks and struck out seven in seven innings.

- Two hits each were earned by sophomore center fielder Cam Miller (2-for-5, double), fifth-year second baseman Seth Schroeder (2-for-4, double) and Cangelosi (2-for-4, RBI).
