Beemer Clinches All-American Status, On To 184-Pound Semis At Nationals

Barrett Earns First All-American Citation Going Through Consi Rounds

Redshirt junior 184-pounder Daniel Beemer has returned to his All-American form of two years ago, and is looking for more.

On the first day of the 2023 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships on Friday (March 10) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Beemer went 2-0 to assure an All-American finish – as he was in 2021 following a third-place showing at 174 pounds.

Beemer started the day with a 5-3 decision over Adams State's Hunter Tobiasson, then earned a pin in 92 seconds against McKendree's Josh Jones in a quarterfinal. No. 2 seed Beemer's opponent in the semifinals will be No. 3 seed Ty McGeary of West Liberty.

Joining Beemer on Day 2 of wrestling nationals will be redshirt freshman 174-pounder Nate Barrett, who earned his first All-American award by working his way through the consolation bracket. Barrett lost in the first round on Friday, then topped Gannon's Cole Casilio by injury default, then West Liberty's Chase Morgan by a 3-2 count.
