In the final tune-up before the start of the postseason, the No. 21-ranked Ashland University wrestling team split two duals at Mount Union on Sunday (Feb. 12) afternoon.

The Eagles lost 26-18 to Baldwin Wallace before taking a 26-21 decision from the host Purple Raiders. Ashland ends the regular season at 9-10 in duals.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Against Mount Union, after falling behind 21-0 through four weight classes, the Eagles won six consecutive matches to take the victory. Junior Nick Carbone began the rally with an 8-3 decision at 157 pounds, followed by a 6-0 decision from junior Drew Wiechers at 165, and an 8-2 win from redshirt freshman Nate Barrett at 174.
- Ashland finished off the win against the Purple Raiders with three straight pins – in 1:39 for junior 184-pounder Daniel Beemer, in 4:17 for sophomore 197-pounder Kaine Morris and in 2:03 for junior 285-pounder Ty Petrey.
- Versus Baldwin Wallace, after Ashland trailed 20-0, Carbone got the win streak going at 157 with a pin in 2:26, then Wiechers followed with a pin in 2:35 at 165, and Barrett made it three victories in a row for AU with a 4-2 decision at 174.
- Beemer pinned his opponent in 2:01 at 184 pounds to make it a 20-15 score, but a loss at 197 clinched the win for the Yellow Jackets. Petrey won 4-0 at 285 pounds.
