th Annual Midwest Classic, following Day 1 action on Saturday (Dec. 16) in Indianapolis, Ind.

The No. 12-ranked Eagles will have graduate 157-pounder
Drew Wiechers two wins away from a Midwest Classic title when action resumes on Sunday (Dec. 17) morning. Wiechers, ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II, had an opening-round bye, then won decisions by 6-4, 5-1 and 7-0 counts.

Four Eagles still are active in the consolation bracket:
- Redshirt freshman 125-pounder Luke Acuna was 2-1 after an opening-round bye, taking an 11-3 major decision and a 14-11 decision.
- Freshman Hayden Kuhn is 4-1 at 149 pounds, winning 10-7 in overtime, a 19-3 technical fall, a 6-4 decision and a 13-4 major decision.
- Sophomore 174-pounder Nate Barrett, ranked No. 4 in the country, was 3-1 on Day 1, picking up a pin in 43 seconds, a 13-0 major decision and a 13-9 decision.
- Redshirt freshman 197-pounder Peyton Lemon went 3-1 on Saturday, winning via a 15-2 major decision and 13-11 and 17-11 decisions.

Ashland ended the day with 35.5 team points, and is in 22
nd place. Lander is in first place with 83 team points, followed by Central Oklahoma in second (77.5) and Chadron State in third (70).
