Eagle Men’s Basketball Adds Three Freshmen To 2024-25 Roster

Ashland University head men's basketball coach John Ellenwood has announced the addition of three recruits to the 2024-25 Eagle roster.

Max Dawson – 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard – Willard High School
High school head coach: Joe Bedingfield
Stats and honors: As a junior, Dawson was second-team All-Ohio in Division II, OHSBCA District 6 Division II first team, first-team All-Northwest District, and Sandusky Bay Conference Most Outstanding Player. He averaged 25 points, three assists and three rebounds per game, while shooting 39 percent from the 3-point line. For his high school career, Dawson already has scored 1,200 career points.
AAU Organization: Ohio Buckets
Ellenwood: "A lot of the local high school fans know Max and his abilities. He is a versatile athlete that competes with tremendous energy. Max is weapon from long distance that can also make decisions off the dribble. He comes from a great basketball family, and Willard High knows how to prepare their basketball players for success at the college level.  Max played for the Ohio Buckets, which has become a must recruit AAU program."

Trenton Minor – 6-foot-5, 200-pound wing/forward – Big Walnut High School
High school head coach: Brett Bartlett (former Eagle men's basketball player)
Stats and honors: Minor was first-team All-Ohio Capital Conference, second-team OHSBCA District 11, Central District honorable mention, and averaged 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 53 percent from the field.
AAU Organization: Midwest Basketball Club – Mills
Ellenwood: "Trent is the point-forward type player that we have had a lot of success with over the years. He can create for his teammates and make passes like a point guard. He is unselfish but has the ability to take over a game with his offensive skill set. Defensively, Trent can guard all positions. Trent comes from a family that expects excellence. He has also been coached by AU standout Brett Bartlett. Coach Bartlett knows what it takes to succeed at our level and will have Trent ready to go for the Eagles next season."

Jason Moore – 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward – Marysville High School
High school head coach: Mark Tinklenberg
Stats and honors: As a junior, Moore was honorable mention All-Ohio in Division I, first-team All-Ohio Capital Conference and OHSBCA District 10 Super Team. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game. Having scored 800 career points already, Moore is slated to surpass 1,000 career points early in his senior season.
AAU Organization: Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB
Ellenwood: "I love what Jason brings to our program. He is a strong forward/center that can score around the rim and from beyond the 3-point line. He can really handle the ball, and makes his teammates better with his ability to pass. He is also a great defender on and off the ball. Jason comes from an outstanding family and has played his high school career at Marysville for one of my all-time favorite former players, Mark Tinklenberg. He played summer ball for Midwest Basketball Club, one of the most recruited AAU teams in the country."
