For the second year in a row, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named Ashland University senior
Trevor Bassitt the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

Bassitt is the first Eagle to earn the honor twice.

The award is just the latest for Bassitt, who finished his storied collegiate career with 10 national titles and 21 All-American honors. The list of 2021-22 laurels for Bassitt includes:

- Five D-II All-American honors – three indoors, two outdoors
- Great Midwest Athletic Conference outdoor men's track Athlete of the Year
- College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District
- Ashland's first The Bowerman Watch List honoree, March 24, 2022
- 2022 IAAF Worlds indoor silver medal in the men's 400-meter dash
- 2022 D-II indoor nationals men's high-point Athlete of the Meet
- 2022 USATF indoor men's 400 dash national champion
