AU Softball Loses Early-Season Rematch With USI

Box Score In the fourth game of the annual Florida Spring Break trip on Tuesday (March 8) afternoon, Ashland University's softball team lost a 7-1 decision to Southern Indiana.
 
The Eagles are 3-4, while the Screaming Eagles are 14-8. Tuesday's game was a rematch of a contest on Feb. 27 in Owensboro, Ky., a 10-3 Ashland victory.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Ashland went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from junior left fielder Kaitlyn Carney. USI posted single runs in the first and second, then scored five in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Eagles had seven hits from seven different players. Junior pitcher Josie Duncan allowed 12 hits, seven runs (six earned) and two walks and struck out three in six innings.
 
UP NEXT
Following a day off, the Eagles will return to action on Thursday (March 10) at 10 a.m. vs. Mercyhurst and 12:30 p.m. against Salem.
