Eagle STUNT Routs Arrows In Inaugural Home Game

Prior to the first Ashland University STUNT game on Saturday (March 19) morning at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium, there was an audible buzz among the crowd which would eventually grow to at least 500 people.
 
That buzz wouldn't let up during the course of the Eagles' 16-0 win over Ursuline, as the pre-game curiosity turned into excitement for what was happening on the mat.
 
"It was a great day. Unreal," said Ashland head coach Denise Farnsworth. "I asked them to come out and really push themselves to be better than they were last weekend…and they were fabulous today.
 
"The crowd was amazing. I was not expecting that many people. My heart is just so happy."
 
Said sophomore flyer/tumbler Lily Boldman, "I think being at home really set the tone for our entire attitude. It pushed us to fight for each other. It really felt amazing. Overcoming everything that we've gone through this year has just been really amazing."
 
Ashland is 1-2 this spring, while the Arrows are 0-1.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• Saturday morning's victory was the Eagles' first shutout in their fourth all-time contest.
• Ashland's top-scoring players in the win were junior tumbler/flyer/base Kaylee Reed, Boldman and freshman flyer/base/tumbler Alyssa McLaughlin.
• "We talked all week about this being school history, and what that means to Ashland University, and what that means for us as women," Farnsworth said.

Ashland will turn around and play a doubleheader on Sunday (March 20) at 2 p.m. at Concordia, Chicago.
