Drew Wiechers finished in fifth place on Saturday (March 12) on the second and final day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Already assured of his first All-American award following a 2-0 start on Friday (March 11), Wiechers lost by 16-0 technical fall in the semifinal to Nebraska-Kearney's Matt Malcom, then in the consolation semifinal to Belmont Abbey's John Dean by a 9-8 count.
- In the fifth-place match, Wiechers earned a 5-3 decision against Gannon's Evan Fisler, who Wiechers already defeated 3-1 on Friday in a quarterfinal.
- Ashland finished 32nd as a team with 12 points.
