On a highly successful second and final day at the 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday (March 12) in Pittsburg, Kan., Ashland University's men's team parlayed three national championships into a second-place team finish.

The Eagles finished the Championships with 49 team points, second only to Grand Valley State's 66. Host Pittsburg State was third (47), and West Texas A&M finished fourth (40).

This is the first podium finish for interim head coach
Jacob Sussman. Ashland's men have now earned nine consecutive podium finishes, indoor and outdoor combined (second, tied for third, fourth, second, first, first, first, tied for fourth and second).
Ashland's men had been No. 7 in the pre-nationals U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Ranking Index.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Senior Trevor Bassitt continued to cement his legacy in Eagle track and field annals by winning three national titles – in the men's 60-meter hurdles in 7.73 seconds, in the men's 400 dash in 45.36 seconds and the men's 4x400 relay in 3:09.59, along with freshman Noah Wood and seniors Channing Phillips and Ryan Rager.
- Bassitt now has won nine national championships and has 19 All-American honors, Jackson and Rager each have one title and one All-American laurel, and Phillips, with a third-place finish in the men's 400 dash in 46.94 as well, have totals of five titles and 11 All-Americans.
- In the men's 200 dash finals, sophomore Doniven Jackson was sixth in 21.57 seconds for his second All-American award.
- The Eagle women's 4x400 relay of senior Cheyanne Davis, junior Macy Creamer, senior Rachel Miller and freshman Mia Gardner placed eighth in 3:45.67.
- Ashland's women had two team points for a tied-for-41st team finish.
- Senior Travis Moore was 11th in the men's heptathlon with 5,105 points, while senior Nate Stout finished 14th in the men's shot put at 17.05 meters/55-feet-11ÂĽ.
