As announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Thursday (Dec. 1) afternoon, two Ashland University football players have earned first-team All-Super Region 1 honors.
Â
Senior linebacker
Michael Ayers is on the All-Super Region 1 first-team defense, while senior right tackle
Gavin Posey is on the All-Super Region 1 first-team offense.
Â
Ayers, also the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year and first-team all-conference, racked up big numbers in his second season as a linebacker – 81 total tackles (48 solo), 10½ tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception, eight pass breakups, 11 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Posey, a first-team All-Great Midwest selection and an Academic All-District choice by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), started all 12 games this past season at right tackle, and was a key member of an offensive line which led AU's offense to average 29.3 points and 395.0 yards per game.
