In the second tournament of the young 2022-23 season, Ashland University's wrestling team competed at the unscored Ohio Intercollegiate Open in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday (Nov. 13).

WHAT HAPPENED
- In the Blue Division, open to all grapplers, the Eagles turned in one second-place finish and a pair of third-place showings.
- Junior Drew Wiechers was the runner-up at 165 pounds, going 3-1 and losing the championship match to Chandler Amaker of Central Michigan, 8-2. Taking third place were junior Gavin Weaver at 141 pounds (4-1, won third-place match by 12-0 major decision over Hunter Olson of Cleveland State) and junior Corbin May at 174 (2-1, won third-place match over Jaret Lowry of Ohio Wesleyan).
- In the freshmen- and sophomores-only White Division, redshirt freshman Sevriano Garza took the title at 165 pounds. Garza went 4-0, earning two major decisions and winning and title match 3-1 over Tiffin's Jakob Hurley.
- Sophomore Kaine Morris was the runner-up at 197 pounds, going 2-1 and losing the championship match to Aidan Gassel of Team Thunder, 11-6, while redshirt freshman Evan Davis was third at 149 pounds, going 5-1 and winning the third-place match by no contest.
