In the next-to-last matches for both squads in the fall portion of the 2022-23 season, Ashland University's tennis teams each defeated Shawnee State on Friday (Oct. 14) on the road.

The Eagle women (2-0) won 6-0, and the AU men (1-0) took a 4-2 decision.

WHAT HAPPENED
- In the women's contest, Ashland won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Freshman Ana Penteado and sophomore Kortney Reed won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and sophomore Claudia Adcock and freshman Anna Corbel did the same at No. 2. The No. 3 pairing of freshman Alley Stoehr and sophomore Josie Gorges won 6-4.
- The five completed singles matches were an Eagle sweep – Penteado at No. 1 (6-2, 6-0), Adcock at No. 2 (6-3, 6-2), Corbel at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0), Reed at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1) and Stoehr at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1).
- On the men's side, the Eagles got the doubles point by taking two of three contests – sophomore Fabian Bussard and freshman Benedikt Weinboerner 6-2 at No. 2, and sophomore Omar Prince and freshman Gabriel Seminario 6-3 at No. 3.
- Ashland's three singles victories came from Prince at No. 3 (6-1, 6-2), freshman Tomas Paskauskas at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4), and Weinboerner at No. 6 (6-3, 6-2).
