Box Score 2 After nearly three full weeks away from the field, Ashland University's softball team played a doubleheader at Findlay on Saturday (March 13), losing to the Oilers, 9-1 in five innings and 4-1.

The Eagles are 2-4 on the still-young season, while the Oilers are 7-6.

In Game 1, Findlay posted seven runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to the victory. Junior first baseman
Alexis Lavdis drove in Ashland's run, and the loss in the pitcher's circle went to sophomore pitcher
Kayla Ruperto (1-1, 1 1/3 innings, five hits, seven runs, two earned runs, two walks).

The nightcap saw the Eagles jump ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but the Oilers counter with all four of their runs in the bottom of the third. Sophomore third baseman
Hailey Struckman had Ashland's RBI in Game 2, and the loss went to freshman
Jillian Middleton (0-2, six innings, six hits, four runs, two earned runs, one walk, six strikeouts).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saturday's games were Ashland's first in the state of Ohio since May 3, 2019.

The Eagles are slated to play their first games at Brookside Park since April 23, 2019 on Wednesday (March 17) at 3 p.m. vs. another future Great Midwest Athletic Conference rival, Ohio Dominican.
