The full-squad 2021-22 season-opener for Ashland University's swimming and diving teams was Friday (Oct. 15) in Findlay.
Ashland's men lost to the Oilers, 140-90, and the AU women lost to UF, 168.5-69.5.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagle wins on Friday night were earned by junior Franci Aleksi in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle (16:38.63) and 500 free (4:50.60), junior Abby Locke in the women's 200 individual medley (2:17.66), sophomore Chuck Malberti in men's 3-meter diving (234.76 points), and senior Isaac Osterfeld in men's 1-meter diving (241.36 points).
- Runner-up finishes were collected by senior Sydney Kermath in the women's 200 free (2:01.81) and 500 free (5:28.20), freshman Colleen Cox in the women's 50 free (25.39 seconds), senior Matt Filsinger in the men's 200 IM (1:59.28) and 200 backstroke (1:57.24), junior Veronica Eckroth in women's 1-meter diving (207.68 points) and 3-meter diving (193.53 points), Osterfeld in men's 3-meter diving (211.35 points), senior Morgan Gardner in the women's 200 butterfly (2:24.58), Malberti in men's 1-meter diving (220.58 points), Locke in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:32.20), junior Amar Sapcanin in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:11.60), and the women's 200 free relay team of sophomore Gabby Diehl, Cox, Kermath and sophomore Sydney Porinchok.
