Eagles Open Spring Break With Setback

Ashland University's women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a loss at Benedict on Sunday (Mar. 8).

The 4-3 loss dropped to Eagles to 11-13 on the year.

AU won two doubles matches to gain the early advantage in the match. Sophomore Huntyr Lake and junior Hazuki Ogino won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Junior Camille Ringot and senior Allison Brooks saw much of the same success in their 6-3 win at No. 3.

Ashland also won two doubles matches, as Ogino and Brooks picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Brooks won with ease, a 6-2, 6-1 straight-sets decimation. Ogino fell in a hole early, dropping Set 1, 1-6. She managed to win the next two sets to clinch the match win, 6-2, 10-6.

The Eagles will be back on the court on Tuesday (March 10) at Francis Marion, with play beginning at 2 p.m.
