Ashland Loses Two Florida Games, Record Evened At 4-4

On the second day of its annual Florida spring break trip on Monday (March 5), Ashland University's softball team lost to both Concordia-St. Paul (4-1) and Winona State (5-3).

The Eagles (4-4) managed just four hits in Monday's opener against Concordia-St. Paul, three of those turned in by sophomore second baseman Camille Pollutro (3-for-3, double, RBI). Senior pitcher Paige McMenemy took her first loss of 2018 (3-1), allowing seven hits, four runs (three earned) and two walks and striking out two, while junior Hannah Stroe finished with two scoreless innings and two whiffs.

Ashland's bats warmed up in the loss to Winona State, as junior first baseman Kylie Asmus went 3-for-3, and Pollutro and junior center fielder Erika Farst each had two of the Eagles' nine hits. Freshman Laney Jones gave up six hits, five runs and six walks and struck out four in four innings, and junior Abbie Sgro ended the contest with two perfect frames.
