Ashland University softball split with Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (April 2) afternoon at Brookside Park in a pair of low-scoring games.

The Eagles (15-14 overall, 3-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) dropped the first one, 4-1, and beat the GLIAC-leading Cardinals (18-7, 7-1) in the second, 1-0.

AU had three hits in the first game, two of which came off the bat of sophomore first baseman Kylie Asmus.

Senior Jenny Raguz had the lone RBI for Ashland in the loss.

Sophomore Hannah Stroe earned the loss, but saved the Eagle pitching staff for Game 2 by throwing a complete game.

One of the saved pitchers for Ashland was junior Paige McMenemy, who became the first pitcher to shut out the Cardinals this season. She only allowed three hits over her seven innings of work, which is a season-low for Saginaw.

Asmus had AU's only RBI in the victory, driving in sophomore Paige Summers in the top of the fourth inning.

UP NEXT: The Eagles play a doubleheader against Northwood beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday (April 3). Those are the games that were postponed on Saturday (April 1).
