Morton's Three Goals Sends Davis and Elkins Past Eagles

Box Score

The Ashland University women's soccer team saw its record dip to 0-3 Saturday (Sept. 8) thanks to a 3-1 loss at Davis and Elkins. The West Virginia school is 4-0.

Taylor Morton took care of all the offense for Davis and Elkins. She scored three goals. Her first came at 23:15 and her second was at 61:31.  The Eagles finally answered at 67:03 on freshman Allison Richards' (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) first goal of the season. The assist went to Melissa Hill (Medina, Ohio). The score came off of a corner kick.

Morton's third goal came at 89:26. That was her fifth goal of the year. All three of her goals against AU were unassisted.

Both teams had 13 shots and AU held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Morton took nine of the home team's 13 shots and she put five shots on goal.

The Eagles will host Charleston (WV) on Wednesday, Sept. 12 (7 p.m.). That is AU's home opener.  It is the only home contest among Ashland's first eight games.
